After the great earthquake disaster we experienced, the country’s agenda is almost completely focused on the elections on 14 May. Such poor management of the economy and high inflation will absolutely have an effect on the election results.
In the midst of this busy agenda, the Asansör İstanbul fair in March opened its doors to an intense mass of heavy-hearted visitors due to the earthquake. Some leading companies of the Turkish lift industry did not open stands, while companies from Konya made a notable appearance in the fair this year. The panel titled “Lifts and Buildings Subject to Seismic Conditions,” which was organized as part of the fair, attracted intensive attention.
The Turkish Elevator Industrialists’ Federation (TASFED) made some examinations in the earthquake region to research the impacts of earthquakes on elevators. As a result of these examinations supervised by Ministry officials, the Federation shared an extensive report and relevant pictures with the public.
Lift Expo Kazakhstan, organized for the first time in Almaty, Kazakhstan, at the end of March, brought together all lift industry of the region with Russian, Chinese and Turkish manufacturers. The first fair organized in Central Asia, Lift Expo Kazakhstan attracted intensive attention, especially from Turkish republics in the region.
Resulting from the 30th General Assembly of All Elevator Industrialists and Businessmen Association (TASİAD), one of the long-established and strong associations of the lift industry, Yasemin Bulut undertook the position of board chair. As the first female chair, Bulut also has a young managerial staff.
The 12th International Symposium organized by Koosha College of Applied Sciences and Technology in Tehran, Iran, brought together approximately 300 sector members across the country. The agenda items of the panel following the presentations in the symposium were the restrictions imposed on imports and support to domestic manufacturers.
Organized for the 45th time this year, the Building Fair (Turkeybuild Istanbul) opened its doors to visitors under the roof of ICA Group. Elevator Industrialists’ Association (ASSDER), Elf Asansör, Mars Elevator, Tork Asansör and Wolves Asansör were among the companies that opened stands at the fair, which drew ever-increasing attention from the elevator and escalator industry.
This issue focused on “Safety Components,” the most critical and vital elements of lifts. Süleyman Özcan contributed an article shedding light on certification, which is of particular concern to manufacturing companies in this field.
