Tokyo-based Mitsubishi Electric has launched the NEXIEZ-MRL Version 2 machine-room-less (MRL) elevator, which comes with a new door operating system and offers optional health, safety and convenience features, the company announced in October. Version 2, offering more-advanced specifications over the original NEXIEZ-MRL, will be promoted in the company’s overseas markets. Version 2’s improvements are a new door system that enhances operational efficiency; antivirus solutions for passenger safety and comfort; and the ability to allow access by mobile robots. In addition, it is available in four new interior designs aimed at enhancing buildings’ property values. The new door system shortens door opening and closing time by about 12%, which cuts average waiting time by about 14%. The optional Quick Closing System with sensor cuts door opening time by an average 24% when it detects no waiting riders in the elevator lobby. Other Version 2 options:
- Health solutions — The cabin can be equipped with circulating fans including Mitsubishi Electric’s Plasma Quad™, which captures viruses, bacteria, pollen and odors. Also available are antiviral and antibacterial surface coatings for COP and LOP buttons, and touchless elevator call and operation via smartphone.
- Robot access — Properly equipped Version 2s allow mobile robots to access the car and move between floors, which helps maintain social distancing and reduces need for manpower. In addition, the elevator can be connected to building management systems to improve operational status.
- New car designs — Version 2 buyers have a choice of four car designs: Luxury (rich surface finishes that create an elegant space); Comfort (minimalist design that’s comfortable and warm); Natural (soft wood texture that endures beyond trends); and Modern (urban style that offers quiet, simple lines).
