Vertical Transportation in Verse

Vertical-Transportation-in-Verse

ELEVATOR WORLD Correspondent Peng Jie took this photo at World Elevator & Escalator Expo 2019 in Shanghai. It made him consider that we have little poetry in elevator-related publications:

“Indeed, poetry is a valuable treasure shared globally in varied languages. Why not let it be shared by our elevator industry? Poetry may go to varied trades and industries, as it is an art about everyday life, which brings fun to everyone who loves it.

“The Car

It has no gas engine but is called a car. When you close the door, it will start. The car does not run on a road or a highway, It travels and stops in a vertical space near and far.

“The Ride

When the car opens its door full and wide, Passengers come in or out at the lantern light. Once in the car, you have to place a landing, To tell the lift to which floor you are going. Then, the door closes with an arrow flashing. It will bring you to your destination landing.”

Since 1953, Elevator World, Inc. has been the premier publisher for the global vertical transportation industry. It employs specialists in Mobile, Alabama, and has technical and news correspondents around the world.
