Finn Berg Yacht Design has revealed a conceptual superyacht explorer design, complete with what is described as the world's first telescopic observation elevator. Berg, a recent graduate of University of Coventry's automotive and transport design bachelor's degree program, developed the EXO-X superyacht design as his final-year project. Superyacht explorers are a newer class of large private vessels that have grown in popularity in recent years. These luxury ships can reach remote locations and are equipped with exploration and research gear.

The EXO-X features an industry-first concept: a telescopic observation elevator. The lift rises through the hardtop of the sundeck to offer a one-of-a-kind vantage point. Renderings show it as a tubular extension that could fit one or two people at a time. For now, Berg's conceptual study is just a way of imagining what could be possible, but the features modeled could inspire others who may bring the technology to fruition in the future.
