Hyperion Solutions
TITAN DUAL PLUNGER RETROFIT BRAKE KIT
Innovation is at the core of the elevator industry, and ELEVATOR WORLD is proud to again recognize the achievements of manufacturers whose products — brought to the vertical-transportation market between March 2024-July 1, 2025 — are considered particularly noteworthy or innovative for the fifth annual Product of the Year Award. The products featured represent advances in technology or application, innovative or improved design, price/performance improvements and potential for further development. This special section contains detailed listings of the six products up for consideration this year, and you have the opportunity, along with an impartial panel of experienced industry experts and professionals, to help choose this year’s winner by voting online in October at elevatorworld.com. The winner and two finalists will be announced in November with an email blast and news in ELENET, along with receiving a framable certificate, a digital awards decal to use in marketing and a feature in the 2026 Elevator World SOURCE Directory. The winner will also receive a Product of the Year trophy to keep and display in the office or at industry events.

The Titan Dual Plunger Retrofit Brake Kit is a purpose-built, code-compliant modernization solution for legacy elevator machines. Designed for both geared and gearless traction applications, this kit provides a streamlined and safe method of upgrading aging single plunger braking systems without removing the machine from service.
For geared traction machines that rely on single plunger brakes, Titan’s kit eliminates the single point of failure both mechanically and electrically by building in redundancy. For gearless machines, the kit enables an upgrade to emergency braking functionality for Ascending Car Overspeed (ACO) and Unintended Car Movement (UCM) protection, enhancing passenger safety and compliance.
This solution allows building owners and contractors to keep well-maintained legacy equipment reliably in service without costly field modifications, engineering expenses, or full machine replacements. Instead of extensive downtime, Titan delivers a fully pre-engineered, drop-in system that is quick to install and significantly improves safety and reliability.
The Titan Dual Plunger Retrofit Brake Kit meets ASME A17.1/CSA B44 requirements and complies with A17.3 code changes in applicable jurisdictions such as New York City. This certification ensures that the modernization not only enhances performance but also meets the highest safety standards in the industry.

The Argus A100 Pit Flood Protection System is the simplest way to protect any elevator, new or old, from flooding.
More than just an alarm, the system takes action. It combines the A100-PFD Pit Flood Protector with the A100-PFS Pit Float Switch to sense rising water and respond automatically. When water is detected, the system automatically triggers audible and visual alarms and moves the elevator to a designated safe floor, opens the doors for passenger exit, and then disables the elevator until it is reset. This helps prevent costly equipment damage, safeguards passengers, and reduces service interruptions.
The A100-PFS is a rugged float switch housed in a waterproof enclosure with sealed fittings and liquid-tight conduit. Mounted 6 to 12 inches above the pit floor, it signals the A100-PFD as soon as water triggers the float.
Compact and easy to install, the A100- PFD protection system works with all elevator controllers, whether based on relay logic or serial communications. Its bright touchscreen interface uses icon-based indicators for each input and output to simplify setup and diagnostics.
Together, the A100-PFD and A100-PFS provide a reliable, no-maintenance solution for protecting elevators from flooding, while helping building owners meet safety codes, keep insurance eligibility, protect passengers, and reduce costly downtime.
