According to the Lift Federation in France, 25% of the country’s elevators are more than 40 years old and, according to a survey, 77% of the nation’s people want help in renovating this vertical transportation (VT). According to the Lift Federation, which recently published the sixth edition of its barometer, “The French and the Lift,” with Ipsos Group S.A., the poor operation of lifts worries 58% of the people questioned. Ipsos is a multinational market research and consulting firm with headquarters in Paris. For 96% of those worried about lift operation, it is considered necessary to replace the defective equipment. In total, the Lift Federation estimates that there are more than 600,000 elevators in France with the average operating life of elevators between 25 and 30 years. Repair costs are estimated between 20,000 and 50,000 euros (US$22,000 and US$55,000), on average, per elevator. For most respondents, obtaining renovation assistance is necessary to properly maintain the lifts. For more information, read the report online.
