CIA To Host CANopen Bootloader Webinar

The nonprofit CAN in Automation (CiA) association plans to host a 45-min webinar at 4 p.m. Central European Time on January 24 about the generic CANopen bootloader functionality according to CiA 710, which specifies bootloader mode for CANopen Classic and CANopen FD devices, as well as switching between bootloader and application mode. A bootloader is a critical piece of software that provides an interface for the user to load an operating system and applications. Reiner Zitzmann of CiA, who will be conducting the webinar, tells ELEVATOR WORLD it is open to anybody who is working with CAN (controller area network) to update a device’s firmware via CAN/CANopen, which is the CAN communication platform for elevator control systems. “For those using CANopen and CANopen Lift, the webinar should be interesting,” Zitzmann says. Those planning to attend may register online or by email.
