Bensenville, Illinois-headquartered Colley Elevator Co. recently celebrated the successful completion of full modernization of an elevator system consisting of two 1952 Otis elevators at a property in Evanston, Illinois. Colley Elevator President Craig Zomchek said the facility is part of a larger campus system that hired a general contractor and construction manager to work with Colley to complete the project. The Colley team replaced the machine, controller, fixtures, door operators and associated door equipment on both elevators. Suppliers included Motion Control Engineering (controllers), GAL (MOVFRTM door operators), Innovation Industries (fixtures), Hollister-Whitney (machine) Eklunds (cab interiors and door frames) and The Peelle Co. (hatch and car doors). Zomchek observes that, although the salesperson and project team are typically those who get the most glory on such a project, there were 17 Colley employees who played key roles in the Evaston modernization, “from the truck driver to the engineer to the billing department to the crane assistant.”
