Construction has begun on Amazon’s new Bellevue 600 office building, a tower that sees the company expanding its footprint on the Eastside, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reported on March 31. Demolition crews have begun dismantling an existing parking garage on the lot at 600 108th Avenue N.E., a signal that Phase 1 of the project has finally kicked off. With a design by architecture firm NBBJ, the new 43-story building will include 885,000 ft2 of office space, 121,000 ft2 of amenities and 14,000 ft2 of retail space. At 600 feet tall, the new high rise will be tied for the tallest building in Bellevue, adding another tower to the skyline. Amazon expects occupancy to start in 2024. The company is aiming for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Gold certification as part of its sustainability efforts. Phase II of the construction project will replace the Bellevue Corporate Plaza building, currently located on the west side of the lot, with a new, 33-story office tower.
