A 70-year-old man died and three others were injured when an elevator collapsed from the fourth floor of a commercial building in Vadodara, India, on January 28, The Indian Express reports. The deceased, a resident of Rajasthan, was visiting his son’s computer training center when the elevator collapsed. According to the fire department, the victims were rescued after a 40-min operation to cut open the gates of the collapsed elevator. The elevator, which was approximately 12 years old, reportedly collapsed due to excess weight. Personnel from Panigate fire station rushed to the spot and rescued the family. However, the deceased sustained serious injuries to his limbs and died during treatment at a private hospital on Sunday. The three others received treatment, officials said.
