Elevator/Lift Emergency Rescue Device Earns Patent

Su-Vastika Solar, a rapidly developing startup for power storage and solutions, has been granted a patent by the Government of India for its Emergency Rescue Device (ERD) for lifts, Digital Journal reports. The title of patent 396079 is “A System and Method for Providing Backup to Consumer-Friendly Elevators and Lifts.” ERD is a mechanism installed in elevators that activates during power outages and differs from an auxiliary or emergency power source or generator. With an ERD, the switching time is nearly negligible so the lift never stops. With no interruption in power, the possibility of lift failure is eliminated. ERD is a “green and clean” technology that, with the addition of a charge controller and solar panels, may become a solar-enabled system capable of charging the ERD power bank using solar energy. The machinery may be configured for modest to large loads up to 500 KVA and can operate on lead-acid and lithium batteries. The device is BIS Certified.
