Escalator Stoppage in Türkiye Capital Being Investigated

Allegations that escalators were intentionally stopped at various locations in the Turkish capital city of Ankara are being investigated by the city’s Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, outlets including Haberler reported on December 3. The investigation follows a complaint from the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality that the units were stopped on purpose, but presented as malfunctioning. Security cameras showing escalators at the Metro, Ankara and other stations captured footage of suspects tampering with the units, and police are working to identify them.
