Extreme Heat Awareness Month and an OSHA Photo Contest

In its NEII Insider newsletter, the National Elevator Industry, Inc. (NEII) observed that July is Extreme Heat Awareness month — a reminder to stay safe and healthy during the summer on jobsites. Heat exposure can cause illness and even death if not addressed, with symptoms that include thirst, dizziness and nausea. To bring awareness to the issue, OSHA is sponsoring the “Beat the Heat” photo contest, which challenges people to capture images of how to work safely in the heat. “The goal of the photo contest is to highlight and showcase effective strategies that stakeholders are using to protect workers from the heat,” NEII said. “OSHA wants stakeholders to see heat safety in action and be encouraged to adopt similar practices.”
