Fujitec Debuts Environmentally Friendly Biodiesel Fuel in Company Trucks

As part of its effort to minimize environmental impact, Japan’s Fujitec Co., Ltd., transitioned from diesel to biodiesel fuel in company trucks. The company began using biodiesel fuel in May in 4-t trucks owned by Big Step, which provides Fujitec’s escalator, R&D and production truck fleet. The biodiesel fuel used is an environmentally friendly fuel that meets Japanese Industrial Standards equivalent to those of diesel fuel. The manufacturer produces biodiesel fuel by collecting tempura oil used in the homes of company employees and processing it using the alkali catalyst method at a recycled biofuel production facility. Recycling household waste tempura oil also reduces the amount of garbage to be incinerated and the use of fossil fuels. Fujitec’s move to biodiesel is part of its Move ON 5 medium-term management plan that aims to achieve a 46% reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 compared to 2019.
