Fujitec Receives 239 Elevator Order for Metro in Chennai

Fujitec India Pvt. Ltd. announced on December 23 it received an order for 239 elevators for corridors 3 and 5 of the Chennai Metro Rail Project (CMRP), its first order for a metro project in India. Corridors 3 and 5 represent Phase 2 of the CMRP, creating a north-south and east-west rail network across the city of Chennai. Manufactured and supplied from Fujitec’s plant in the Chennai suburbs, the machine-room-less REXIA-IN elevators will be installed at 54 CMRP stations — 34 underground and 20 elevated — as well as one train depot. A group company of Japan’s Fujitec Co., Ltd., Fujitec India has 17 locations throughout the country. Established in 2004, it is headquartered in Kanchipuram and led by Managing Director Shakir Ahmed.
