Ground Broken on Skyline-Defining Toronto Supertall Forma

With 94-year-old architect Frank Gehry in attendance, ground was broken on June 7 on the future Toronto landmark Forma, a mixed-use supertall consisting of 84- and 73-story towers at 266 King Street West, Urban Toronto was among outlets to report. The ceremonial start of construction came after more than a decade of planning and was attended by approximately 100 people. Local lawmakers; representatives of a development team that includes Great Gulf, Dream Unlimited and Westdale Properties; and Gehry, who was born in Toronto, were among those to address the crowd. With Gehry joking that people need to “pray for him” so he sees the project’s completion, Great Gulf owner Elly Reisman observed the building is “going to be the skyline of Toronto.” The 73-story, residential portion of the project is taking shape first, and a completion date has not yet been announced.
