Hyundai Elevator is joining forces with fellow South Korea-based company LG Electronics to develop a smart-building solution business designed to connect elevators, self-driving robots and home network systems, AJU Business Daily reported on August 20. Hyundai plans to develop an open application programming interface (API) that can connect with various applications to create premium elevators that can create digital experiences for passengers by combining organic light-emitting diode and signage technologies. To the partnership, LG will bring its experience in designing service robots and display panels. With advances in AI and other innovations, the elevator industry is evolving into producers of new, experiential mobility products. Some bring automatic recognition of visitors’ information, elevator call programs and delivery and concierge services in connection with service robots. The partners project uses in apartments, hotels, office buildings and hospitals.
