Ettore (Ed) F. Romeo passed away in Parkland, Florida, on May 15. Romeo started his career in the elevator trade in 1961 working as a member of the IUEC as an elevator mechanic under Local 1, NY. Romeo relocated to Florida in 1973 where he continued his career in the elevator trade under Local 71, Miami, as an elevator mechanic and adjuster and took on many leadership roles, which eventually led him to start his own business. In 1987, he opened Centrellx Elevator Corp. in South Florida and became a highly respected and successful business owner in the elevator industry. His reputation was built on hard work, integrity, technical expertise and an unwavering commitment to excellence. Throughout his career, Romeo was known as a skilled elevator mechanic, adjuster, problem solver and leader who approached every challenge with determination and professionalism. Beyond his own success, Romeo was passionate about developing the next generation of elevator professionals. He generously shared his knowledge, experience and work ethic with countless mechanics, helping them grow both professionally and personally. Many of those he mentored went on to enjoy successful careers of their own, a testament to the lasting impact he had on the trade. Romeo believed in doing every job the right way and took great pride in delivering quality workmanship and exceptional service to his customers. His dedication to safety, reliability and customer satisfaction earned him the respect of colleagues, employees, customers and competitors alike. Through his leadership, Centrellx Elevator Corp. became known for its professionalism, integrity and commitment. In 2003, after more than four decades in the elevator industry, he sold his business and retired, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, mentorship and service that continues to inspire those who knew and worked with him. A Celebration of Life will be held on July 11 at 1 p.m. at Glades Presbyterian Church, 21121 Judge Winikoff Road, Boca Raton, Florida 33428.
