Indian Railways Makes Accessibility Strides Through VT Installations

Indian Railways (IR) has made significant efforts to increase passenger convenience and accessibility during the first quarter of FY 2024-2025 through installations of vertical-transportation (VT) equipment across its stations, the Financial Express reports. According to a tweet from IR, the number of elevators installed by June 2024 reached 66, a 114.4% increase from 27 elevators installed by the same period in FT 2023-2024. Escalator installations jumped from 18 installed by June 2023 to 60 installed by June 2024, marking a 233.3% increase.
