India’s Tallest Escalators Planned for Mumbai Metro

Mumbai Metro Rail Corp. will install 14 escalators at its Mumbai Metro 3 international airport terminal (T2) station of the underground Colaba-Bandra-Seepz corridor, MUMBAI LIVE reports. Eight of these escalators will be 19.5-m tall, making them the country’s tallest. Currently, the highest escalator in India is 15.6 m in length and located at the Janakpuri-West station of the Delhi Metro. Meanwhile, Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority has recently announced plans for the financial capital’s first-ever travellator connectivity for public transit purposes. With two 3-m-wide tracks for bi-directional movement, the moving walk with be approximately 500-m long.
