JFK Airport Escalator Fire Send Four to the Hospital
An escalator fire at New York’s John F. Kennedy (JFK) International Airport at approximately 7 a.m. on July 24 sent four people to the hospital to treat minor injuries from smoke inhalation, ABC News is among outlets to report. A total of nine people suffered from smoke inhalation. Approximately 960 people were evacuated from Terminal 8 in Concourse C, where the incident occurred. Firefighters responded, rescuing a few people from the jet bridge and placing some on stretchers to receive assistance. Operations resumed at approximately 8 a.m., and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
