Featuring bi-directional escalators, the new second entry building is part of a development project for Kottayam Railway Station. Two passenger lifts, platform enhancements and expanded circulating areas were also added to the station to effectively handle a daily average of 25,231 passengers. With 89 daily train stops that include 77 express services, the station is a key rail hub. At the event, Dr. Manish Thaplyal, divisional railway manager, Thiruvananthapuram Division, highlighted his team’s commitment to enhancing the passenger experience. After the unveiling of a digital plaque, the new booking office and escalators were welcomed by event attendees at the second entry concourse.
