Newly constructed booking office and escalators at the second entrance of Kottayam Railway Station in India were inaugurated and opened to the public on November 12 by the Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Shri George Kurian to a crowd of officials and civilians, Kerala Rail News reported. Featuring bi-directional escalators, the new second entry building is part of a development project for Kottayam Railway Station. Two passenger lifts, platform enhancements and expanded circulating areas were also added to the station to effectively handle a daily average of 25,231 passengers. With 89 daily train stops that include 77 express services, the station is a key rail hub. At the event, Dr. Manish Thaplyal, divisional railway manager, Thiruvananthapuram Division, highlighted his team’s commitment to enhancing the passenger experience. After the unveiling of a digital plaque, the new booking office and escalators were welcomed by event attendees at the second entry concourse.
