KONE Elevators India inaugurated an elevator test tower and labs at its location in Sriperumbudur near Chennai on October 31, with KONE President and CEO Henrik Ehrnrooth and KONE India Managing Director Amit Gossain in attendance. The tower and labs enable “state-of-the-art” R&D capabilities, and promise to bolster KONE India’s presence both domestically and in the global market. Described by Gossain as “a huge breakthrough in KONE India’s journey,” the elevator test tower contains multiple shafts that can be configured to test new high- and mid-rise elevators. Elevator and escalator components will be tested in the labs. The new test tower and labs were set up and are being managed by KONE Technology Centre, responsible for R&D including KONE DX, “the world’s first digitally connected elevator that transports guests to the panoramic views at the top” of the test tower. “Our technology team now collaborates even stronger with KONE global teams, collectively enabling us to reach even greater heights on the innovation and technology front,” Gossain said.
