KONE announced on July 18 it has won a contract to supply 36 vertical-transportation units for the 2 Finsbury Avenue (2FA) development in Broadgate, the largest pedestrianized neighborhood in the City of London. The order comprises 19 MiniSpaceTM and 12 MonoSpace® 700 elevators, as well as three energy-efficient TransitMasterTM 110 escalators. The KONE E-LinkTM remote-monitoring solution will also be incorporated. Developed by British Land and GIC, 2FA is a mixed-used project that consists of the 36-story East Tower and the 21-story West Tower, linked by a 12-story podium. Slated for completion in 2027, the project aims to be a new benchmark in sustainable workplace design in London. It will be an all-electric development. Other key players include architect 3XN London, with which KONE worked closely to design custom car finishes, and main contractor Sir Robert McAlpine Ltd.
