KONE announced on September 22 it won an order to equip a new railway line connecting Ningbo and Xiangshan, China, with 117 vertical-transportation (VT) units. Delivery comprises 16 MonoSpace® and 11 MiniSpaceTM elevators, and 90 TransitMasterTM escalators. The contract also includes eight years of maintenance. Developed by Ningbo Line Twelve Suburban Railway Development Co., Ltd., the new line will be approximately 60-km long with 10 stations. When operational, it is expected to bring in approximately 1.2 million additional tourists each year, as well as improve connectivity between the two cities. “We are proud to be part of China’s growing rail network and help make transportation safer and more convenient for everyone,” KONE Executive Vice President for Greater China Joe Bao said.
