KONE to Equip Suzhou Metro Line S1 With 171 VT Units

KONE will equip Metro Line S1, the first urban rail line in Suzhou, China, with 171 vertical-transportation (VT) units including 30 MonoSpace® elevators and 141 TransitMasterTM escalators, KONE announced on September 15. The first rail line in Suzhou to apply fully automatic driving technology, Metro Line S1 will stretch more than 41 km, connecting Suzhou to Shanghai’s rail network. It will be served by 28 stations, all underground. The developer is Suzhou Rail Transit City Line 1 Co. Ltd., and the architects are China Railway Electrification Survey and Design and Research Institute Co. Ltd. “The new subway system will make Suzhou more accessible, with a seamless connection to the Shanghai rail line network, and further accelerate the city’s development,” KONE Executive Vice President of Greater China William B. Johnson said.
