The Bishkekgorlift municipal enterprise in Bishkek, the capital and largest city of Kyrgyzstan, said in a recent report to City Council that it provides maintenance for 974 elevators, including 412 private ones, in the city, AXIpress reports. Mainly focused on modernization of municipal elevators, Bishkekgorlift observed that its main challenges include keeping a large number of elevators that have surpassed their serviceable life in operation, dealing with low maintenance tariffs and the fact that Kyrgyzstan lacks a production base for vertical-transportation units and components.
