Mitsubishi Elevator (Thailand) Co., Ltd., (MET), recently received the Asia Responsible Enterprise Awards (AREA) 2024 in the “Social Empowerment” category, the Bangkok Post reports. The award recognized the company’s continuous Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, the “Hometown School Development” project, which exemplifies its commitment to social and environmental responsibility. Hometown School Development is driven by a collective desire within the organization to enhance the quality of life for young people, nurturing them into personnel who can contribute effectively to society and the nation. Katsuya Kawabata, managing director of MET, said, “This CSR initiative has provided opportunities for our executives and employees to actively participate in the development of Hometown School, where Mitsubishi provided funding to construct educational facilities such as classrooms, canteens and recreational buildings. We collaborated with the International Program in Design and Architecture of Chulalongkorn University to have students design these school buildings.” The AREA are organized by Enterprise Asia, a non-governmental organization (NGO) focused on regional development in Asia, recognizing leading organizations that follow ESG principles and play a significant role in promoting sustainable development in the Asian region.
