NYC MTA Rings in 2026 With Three New Elevators

The NYC Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) rang in 2026 with plenty of good news, including the unveiling of three new elevators at three stations in Manhattan that involved companies including Mid-American Elevator and Otis. Announced on December 31, 2025, the new units mark completion of a record 39 elevator replacements for 2025, more than double the previous record of 16 set in 2021. The 39 new elevators in 2025 included nine in Brooklyn, five in the Bronx, 20 in Manhattan and five in Queens. The three latest stations to get new elevators are Times Square-42nd Street (Mid-American), 14th Street (Mid-American) and 34th Street-Penn Station (Otis). The MTA currently has 29 similar elevator replacement projects underway in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens.
