OEMs Make “A” List For Tackling Climate Change

KONE and TK Elevator (TKE) are among the OEMs recognized with a prestigious “A” score from international nonprofit CDP for their efforts to fight climate change. The OEMs are among a small number of high-performing companies out of nearly 12,000 evaluated that scored “A.” Others with “A”s include Mitsubishi Electric Corp. and Hitachi Ltd. KONE said in a press release that it has disclosed through CDP since 2009 and has received a score of A or A- for climate change for nine consecutive years. CDP allocates scores from A to D- based on comprehensiveness of disclosure, awareness and management of environmental risks, demonstration of best practices, environmental leadership and setting ambitious goals. In 2020, KONE set targets for significant reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and carbon neutrality by 2030. Achieving an “A” score for the second consecutive year, TKE says it continues to be focused on sustainable products and services, particularly its commitment toward lower CO2 emissions through measures such as transitioning its vehicle fleet to electric and hybrid. TKE’s goals include becoming climate neutral by 2050 and using electricity only from renewable sources by 2030.
