Otis Brazil announced on March 13 it has joined the Companies With Refugees Forum, an initiative of the United Nations (UN) Refugee Agency and UN Global Compact Brazil. Company members commit to supporting the inclusion of refugees in the job market. The initiative promotes sharing experiences, providing training, hiring refugees and exchanging best practices for integrating refugees into the workplace and society. Otis Latin America Human Resources Director Cristiane Fiorezzi observes that becoming a member of the forum formalizes refugee inclusion actions the company has already implemented, such as a collaboration established in 2022 with the Missão Paz philanthropic institution in São Paulo, Brazil. Through Missão Paz, Otis hired Sara Marta, a refugee from Luanda, Angola, in 2023 as an electromechanical assembler.
