Otis Puts Bloomfield Facility Up for Sale

Otis Worldwide has put its facility in Bloomfield, Connecticut, up for sale, but the company appears likely to keep occupying the site for the foreseeable future, CT Insider reports. The property comprises an approximate 188,000-ft2 building at 212 W. Newberry Road, housing a customer-service center that supports Otis’ operations in the U.S. and Canada and some “light manufacturing,” the company said. “We are looking at ways to optimize our real estate footprint in the state to meet our business needs for today and the future,” Otis officials said. “This includes our intent to sell and lease back our Otis service center in Bloomfield to ensure business continuity.” In addition to the service center in Bloomfield, Otis’ locations in Connecticut include its headquarters and a neighboring engineering center in Farmington, a test tower in Bristol and service branches in East Hartford and Shelton. Approximately 1,000 Otis employees are based in Connecticut, but the company did not disclose the number of people who work at the Bloomfield service center.
