Farmington, Connecticut-headquartered Otis Elevator Co. is sponsoring the FIRST® LEGO® League robotics science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) program in nearby Bristol, Connecticut, where the company tests elevator technology at its 383-ft test tower, the city’s tallest structure. The nonprofit FIRST program is known for fostering teamwork, creativity and problem-solving skills through robotics competitions, Otis observes. In Bristol, nearly 100 students in kindergarten through fifth grade from nine elementary schools will have the opportunity to design and build robots alongside dedicated employee coaches from Otis. Local high school students are also being asked to volunteer as mentors. “We are thrilled to bring the FIRST robotics program to Bristol, offering local students the chance to explore STEM disciplines in a hands-on, engaging manner,” Otis Senior Director of Global Impact Matt Turner said.
