Members of the City Council in Beverly Hills, California, greenlit two previously denied residential towers during their March meeting, reflecting the growing role of state-led housing mandates in vertical growth, the Council on Vertical Urbanism (CVU) reports, citing Urbanize Los Angeles. A 26-story project at 8844 Burton Way developed by Crescent Heights will deliver 200 residential units of various sizes, including 22 affordable units. The Council’s approval reverses a November 2025 denial by the Planning Commission amid concerns over height, density and affordable housing placement. Also during the March meeting, the Council rescinded its previous denial of a 19-story mixed-use tower at 125 S. Linden Drive “following a court ruling requiring reconsideration under the same state housing framework.” These approvals, CVU observed, “reinforce density as a central component of future urban housing delivery.”
