The Schmersal Group, headquartered in Wuppertal, Germany, has received the Best Managed Companies Award for the second year in a row, the company announced on May 24. Presented by consulting and auditing firm Deloitte Private and the German Federal Association of German Industry, the award is given to small and medium-sized enterprises that demonstrate exceptional management in four different areas: strategy; productivity and innovation; culture and commitment; and finance and governance. Managing Partner Philip Schmersal said the company takes a systematic approach to all management decisions, considering a range of factors and drawing on external expertise such as the Schmersal Advisory Board. Sustainability and long-term thinking are important to both Schmersal and the award jury, Deloitte Private Director Markus Seiz observed. The jury said it was impressed by Schmersal’s “powerful mixture of foresight, productivity, innovative spirit and strong, values-oriented management.”
