Caltech Lifts, Scotland’s leading independent lift firm, announced on December 16 it opened its first permanent base outside its Dundee headquarters (HQ) in Strathclyde Business Park, Bellshill, in Scotland’s Central Belt. In addition, it has appointed Craig McLachlan, who has more than 30 years’ lift-industry experience, to general manager (GM) who will split his time between the new office and the Dundee HQ, taking charge of Central Belt daily operations to improve systems and processes for better service and efficiency. The new Central Belt HQ and GM promise to enable Caltech to reach its GBP6-million (US$ 7.9-million) revenue target. Established by Howard Renwick in 1978 and run since 2013 by his sons, Andrew and Fraser, Caltech Lifts supplies and maintains passenger lifts, goods lifts, disabled-access lifts and stairlifts to public private sectors across Scotland, with more than 1,500 units under maintenance.
