South Korea's Seoul Metro plans to build on the success of an escalator safety campaign it conducted during Cherry Blossom festivities — when crowds are at their peak — on April 4, The Asia Business Daily reports. Conducted at Yeouinaru Station on Line 5, the "Escalator Safety Personnel Boarding Campaign" featured Metro personnel boarding escalators holding placards displaying phrases such as "Please stand and do not walk." Banners on the concourse and at escalator entrances reinforced this message, with personnel dispersing congested crowds and providing tailored assistance such as guiding mobility-impaired individuals toward elevators. Passenger movement remained consistent and orderly as a result of the campaign, and the Metro plans to conduct similar campaigns where large festivals and events are held.
