The reopening process has begun at the SkyTrain Brentwood Town Centre Station in the Vancouver, Canada, suburb of Brentwood, with a south entrance outfitted with a new elevator between the street and concourse levels among upgrades going live in early January, Daily Hive reports. Work is now underway on further vertical-transportation (VT) upgrades including two new additional escalators between the platform and concourse levels. Now that the south entrance has reopened, work has begun at street level on the north entrance, which is closed. North entrance renovations, as well as installation of the two new escalators, are expected to be complete in the summer. Part of a CAD$32.6 million (US$24.4 million) capacity-upgrade project funded by the federal government and SkyTrain operator TransLink, work began in 2022 and also includes new glass enclosures for better weather protection, real-time digital information displays, improved lighting and new public art.
