Software development company Atlassian Corp. Plc plans to move ahead with construction of a AUD1.4-billion (US$1.05-billion) tower in Sydney, after winning approval for its plans, The Urban Developer reports. Dexus will develop the 39-story, mixed-use tower at 8-10 Lee Street, next to the Central Station in the city’s 24-ha. Tech Central precinct. With a design by ShoP Architects and BVN, renderings show an “expansive” lobby, retail and dining on the ground floors, levels one to six accommodating the Railway Square YHA hostel and levels seven to 39 serving as home to Atlassian’s global headquarters. The design calls for 58,683 m2 of office space, 7,952 m2 for backpacker accommodation, 2,579 m2 for the lobby and retail and 492 m2 of basement floorspace. The five uppermost floors of the building would create an open-air environment for wellness facilities, meeting areas, lounge spaces, dining areas and planted terraces. A construction timeline was not reported.
