Stannah, headquartered in Andover, U.K., announced it signed a new, potentially GBP50-million (US$63.7-million) five-year contract with Network Rail to service its lifts and escalators. Significantly, the contract includes escalator maintenance for the first time, representing a significant addition to Stannah’s portfolio. “Winning the tender is a testament to the incredible hard work of the Stannah team throughout the current 10-year contract.” During that time, Stannah engineers serviced nearly 1,500 lifts across 554 stations. Each year, teams make approximately 35,000 visits totaling approximately 67,000 hours of service devoted to full and preventive maintenance. Stannah’s Major Projects division has also completed more than 130 new lift installations, modernizations and replacement projects over the past three years for Network Rail. “With 1.6 billion train journeys made by rail passengers in the last year, keeping lifts fully functioning is vital to support Network Rail in putting passengers first.”
