Two workers were killed when an elevator collapsed at the Vijayawada Thermal Power Station in Ibrahimpatnam, a suburb of Hyderabad, on March 18, Telangana Today reports. Eight people were inside the lift at the time of the accident, which was caused by snapped cables, according to the source. Those injured were rushed to the hospital by ambulance. A report from Press Trust of India confirms one day earlier, at a factory in central Delhi’s Kamla Market, a 29-year-old man died following an elevator malfunction. Police suspect the lift descended at a high speed and suddenly stopped, causing a head injury to the victim. An initial investigation revealed that the open, iron-made lift was used in the factory without a license.
