TKE Elevators With Robotic Capabilities for Major Canada Hospital
TK Elevator (TKE) has completed installation of approximately 30 digitally advanced elevators at Calgary Cancer Centre (CCC) at Foothills Medical Centre, the soon-to-be largest standalone cancer center in Canada. The CCC’s 12 service elevators boast remote and robotics capabilities made possible by TKE’s application programming interface (API), which enables robots to use elevators like human passengers. Three of the service elevators have remote functionality, allowing potentially dangerous chemicals like nitrogen to be safety transported without personnel in close proximity to them. These elevators can also be made readily available via remote interaction for high-risk medical events that require immediate elevator availability. TKE will also provide maintenance and service on all elevator units. Construction on the CCC, in which the Government of Alberta invested approximately CAD1.41 billion (US$1.07 billion), began in 2017 and is slated for completion in 2023. “The CCC embodies what smart hospitals will look like in the future,” TKE North America President and CEO Kevin Lavallee said.
