By the end of spring, officials in Wichita County, Texas, hope to have three elevators — including two new units — serving the county courthouse in Wichita Falls, as TK Elevator (TKE) has begun work on a more than US$1-million modernization project after what officials say were repeated delays, Times Record News reports. For months, courthouse employees and visitors have been relying on a single elevator in an alcove situated “well away” from the lobby. The modernization project includes replacing both lobby elevators with new units, one of which will be Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant and able to carry a stretcher.
