TKE said its experience and advanced technologies helped it secure a vertical-transportation (VT) maintenance contract at Berlin Brandenburg Willy Brandt Airport (BER) that covers approximately 200 systems from various manufacturers. Announced on March 25, the contract consists of servicing 48 escalators and 147 elevators at BER, which began operations in October 2020. TKE CEO Peter Walker observed that 24/7, high availability of VT equipment is critical at BER. “This makes sophisticated and comprehensive maintenance of in-house mobility all the more important,” he said, adding that TKE’s Internet of Things-based MAX is being implemented to improve service and transparency.
