Tokyo’s MEBS Develops Innovative Elevator Hall Lantern

Tokyo-headquartered Mitsubishi Electric Building Solutions Corp. (MEBS) has developed a new elevator hall lantern for overseas markets that it says is the “industry’s first elevator direction display that uses projection.” Elevators, which play an important role in building architecture, are increasingly required to incorporate innovative designs and functions that blend with their surroundings and facilitate ease of installation while minimizing environmental impact, MEBS observes. Overseas markets seek to optimize specifications to match a building’s architecture, enhance the user experience and minimize costs. Available starting May 20, the new lantern’s compact case cover and customizable design ensure compatibility with a wide range of architectural styles. In addition to being advanced and sophisticated, the lightweight and compact design also saves on installation work. Compared to traditional wall-embedded hall lanterns, the projection-type lantern reduces impact on the building wall by minimizing the need to drill holes.
