The International Union of Elevator Constructors (IUEC) and the nonprofit Center for Construction Research and Training (CPWR), headquartered in Silver Spring, Maryland, will recognize Safety Stand Down events in April and May, respectively. IEUC will recognize its National Safety Stand Down the week of April 24-28, on April 28 joining with employers to honor Workers Memorial Day in the U.S. and the National Day of Mourning in Canada. “The national event is a collaborative effort to instill a culture of safety in the workplace, working together through joint communication and participation to promote safety in the work environment, observed the National Elevator Industry, Inc. (NEII), which also announced CPWR has named May 1-5 the annual Safety Stand Down to Prevent Falls in Construction Week. “This nationwide, weeklong event encourages employers to pause and have a two-way conversation with workers about fall hazards, protective methods and the company’s safety policies, goals and expectations,” NEII stated.
