Grange Development Consulting is celebrating its plan to build C6, the world’s tallest hybrid timber tower, in South Perth, Australia, winning approval from the City of South Perth after negotiations and redesigns, Perth Now reports. The AUD350 million (US$222.76 million), 51-story tower would include 251 apartments, an open-air, four-story piazza on the lower levels with amenities and an entertainment precinct. Designed by Fraser & Partners at 6 Charles Street, C6 is named after the periodic table’s symbol for carbon. It would become Victoria’s first carbon-negative building. When Grange Director James Dibble initially proposed the project last year, he said, “C6 represents what is possible, except we will deliver it now. I we get this right, we should never have to rely on building another solely concrete or steel tower in our lifetime.
