ZHA Part of Design Team Tapped for NICFC in Taipei

Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA) and C.Y. Lee & Partners have been selected through an international competition to design the National Innovation, Creativity and Finance Center (NICFC) in Taipei, Taiwan, Republic of China, the Council on Vertical Urbanism is among outlets to report. Anchoring the Taiwan capital’s Beimen District, the 175,000-m² development will feature walkability, connectivity and historic preservation, as the adjacent 1930 Taipei Beimen Post Office will be restored and incorporated into the podium of a 47-story tower anchoring the plan. The tower has a fluted profile inspired by Taiwan’s native Phalaenopsis orchid. Three independent elevator banks will serve institutional, rental and dignitary/service functions, ensuring security and operational efficiency. Targeting LEED Platinum certification, the development will consolidate four Taiwan Financial Supervisory Commission institutions: the stock exchange, the futures exchange, the depository and the clearing corporation.
