Excavation works have begun preparing the site at East 83rd Street, Manhattan, NYC, for construction of a 23-story residential tower, New York YIMBY reports. The site at 250-252 East 83rd is located within the Yorkville section of the Upper East Side. Designed by SLCE Architects and developed by 83 Owner, LLC, the 272-ft-tall structure will yield 106 units and ground-floor retail space. Cauldwell Wingate Company is the general contractor. Recent photos show the state of excavation, with a good amount of dirt already removed from the site. A piling machine and trucks were also spotted, and site viewers can expect below-grade activity to progress. The structure is expected to be visible in early 2023. Its height will give the project considerable prominence over the predominantly low-rise neighborhood, providing residents with panoramic views and abundant natural light. At the top is an open-air crown that wraps around the mechanical bulkhead. Construction is expected to complete in May 2025.
