Ingka Centres, part of Ingka Group that includes the IKEA Scandinavian home furnishings chain, plans to build the INR5,500-crore (US$669-million) Lykli Noida mixed-use complex that “represents a new era of retail destinations in the Delhi National Capital Region (NCR)” of India, INGKATM announced in September. Situated in NCR’s Sector 51 approximately 15 km east of the Delhi city center, Lykli Noida consists of two, 41- and 25-story towers in a “U” formation anchored by an IKEA store and including a hotel, offices, restaurants and entertainment spaces. Described by INGKA as a “meeting place,” the complex will be designed to wed Indian and Scandinavian cultures. Set to open in a few years, Lykli Noida will be Ingka Centre’s first complex to include a hotel. It is expected to create more than 9,000 jobs and attract more than 25 million visitors annually.
